AI Ethics Conversation with Father Benanti - Seattle Tech Week
Sponsored by Seattle University and hosted by the Alliance of Angels and K&L Gates, this unique event will allow you the opportunity to engage in a thought-provoking discussion on the topic of generative artificial intelligence with a renowned leader in this space. Father Paolo Benanti, who began his career as an engineer, is a technology and bioethics professor and preeminent expert in neuroethics, technology ethics, artificial intelligence, and post-human intelligence. His focus on people informs his vision as a convenor and community-builder in technology ethics. His accomplishments bridge the worlds of academia, industry, and policy, and previous discussions include an Apple podcast and a Microsoft Tech Talk.
Fr. Benanti’s contributions to the ethical and safe practice of technology are evidenced by his work on the Rome Call, his advisory role to Pope Francis, his appointment to the Pontifical Academy for Life, and his membership on the United Nations Artificial Intelligence Advisory Board.
As a young engineer, a simple question about life’s meaning directed Paulo Benanti’s journey to an unexpected destination – living in a monastery next to the Vatican. Now known as Father Benanti, he’s a Franciscan monk, but he’s also a technology and bioethics professor who advises Pope Francis on the ethics of artificial intelligence.
Please RSVP for this event as seating is limited and we anticipate we will reach maximum capacity.
