Owning your mistakes and learning from them
Welcome to Fire and Flow Circles for Women in Science
This is a series of recurring monthly events to gather women who have built a career in science and feel the need to connect with other women in similar paths to exchange experiences around career growth, leadership, wellbeing, and work-life harmony.
Think of a space where you can show up as you are, share your struggles and find inspiration, guidance, and support from myself and peers who won't judge you but rather lift you up.
Leave with new connections and that feeling that you're not alone, you have what it takes, and you can keep growing to reach the career and life you envision.
How will it work?
In this event, we'll have an open conversation about:
Owning your mistakes and learning from them
We often don't like to fail. We feel ashamed, frustrated, like we want to do better. But what if we see failure as part of our growth? What if we embrace the mistakes we make, big and small, and use them to live with more awareness and alignment?
As always, we'll start with a short grounding practice and a round of introductions, followed by a journaling session to reflect about the session's topics, and a group sharing part.
We'll explore questions, such as:
- What does failure mean to you?
- What have mistakes taught you in your journey?
- Which mistake did you do recently that you keep thinking about?
- What do you want to reframe about failing that can help you move forward feeling more aligned with yourself?
Expect a grounded and relaxed space, with time for a soft arrival, self-reflection, and sharing with peers and the group. I'll be there holding the space throughout.
These circles are for you if...
👉🏼 You are a passionate scientist who struggles with work-life balance, regulate yourself emotionally, set boundaries between work and personal life, and feel fulfilled and balanced despite all your dedication
👉🏼 You are a science professional who feels unclear about your path and wants to build self-trust and overcome perfectionism or imposter syndrome to get the clarity you need for your next step.
👉🏼 You are a manager, freelancer or entrepreneur still learning to juggle all your responsibilities inside your solo or small team while staying sane and taking care of yourself and others in your life
👉🏼 You want to improve your self-leadership skills and find a supportive community with whom you can share your struggles, celebrate your wins, and learn while you grow.
I believe we need more spaces to be real and authentic, feel safe and share with vulnerability. Spaces to listen, be heard, be supported and empowered, and connect with others so we don't feel alone in our self-growth journey.
With these circles, I want to offer you exactly that.
The rest, we co-create along the way.
If this resonates, I'd love to welcome you in this Circle!

About the Host
Hello! My name is Ana Amaral. I am Portuguese and currently based in the Cascais area, near Lisbon.
I’m a self-leadership coach, trainer, yoga teacher, and former scientist. I am a strong connector and love creating spaces where people can connect with each other, find and provide support as they grow, as well as nurture their human side, more real, vulnerable and authentic.
I have a PhD in Biochemistry and spent 15+ years in highly competitive and international research environments, including Cambridge University (UK) and Karolinska Institute (Stockholm). Throughout my career I became passionate about self-leadership and wellbeing at work and decided to start my own project around it in 2025.
Today I support women in science to reconnect with themselves, nurture their self-trust, gain clarity about their goals, and build fulfilling and thriving lives aligned with who they are. I also facilitate workshops and trainings for scientists in scientific institutions on wellbeing and self-leadership, and teach hatha and yin yoga.
