About Event

Central might be best known as Hong Kong’s financial hub and party central, but look a little closer, and you’ll find a surprising number of mom-and-pop food spots still thriving in this vibrant neighbourhood. On this tour, we’ll take you beyond the usual skyscrapers and cocktail bars to uncover the heart of Central’s food and culture.

The Fun & Delicious Stuff at 5 Food Stops

  • A Hearty Start

    • We’ll kick things off with a comforting meal at a hidden noodle shop tucked away in an alley. Here, you’ll savour classic dishes like tender beef brisket rice noodles, spicy and sweet minced pork egg noodles, and freshly wrapped dumplings, made in-house daily.

  • Taste of Tradition

    • Next, we’ll visit a third-generation preserved fruit and snack shop that has stood the test of time for over 50 years. You’ll hear the fascinating story of how this shop has survived through Hong Kong’s evolving street food history and sample treats like preserved plums, ginger, and more.

  • Wet Market Wander

    • We’ll stroll through a bustling wet market, where you’ll discover local produce and pick up tips on how to incorporate these unique ingredients into your own cooking at home.

  • The Dim Sum Trolley Experience

    • No Hong Kong food tour is complete without dim sum, and we’ll take you to one of the city’s few remaining spots that still uses traditional dim sum trolleys. You’ll enjoy classic Cantonese dishes (aka “Cantonese tapas”) while learning how to properly brew tea with a gai wan.

  • A Step Back in Time

    • We’ll visit a historical Chinese temple, where you’ll get a glimpse into local rituals and customs, including those practiced during major festivals like Chinese New Year.

  • Local Diner 101

    • Still hungry? We’ll make a stop at a cha chaan teng to indulge in Hong Kong’s iconic comfort foods: Hong Kong-style French toast paired with perfectly brewed milk tea, arguably some of the best in town.

  • Happy Ending

    • To end the food crawl on a playful note, we’ll grab some fried ice cream baos at a modern Chinese bistro—think of it as a Cantonese twist on the classic ice cream sandwich.
