TfD Film Club: The Sandbox
Join Technologists for Democracy for our second Film Club selection as we watch THE SANDBOX at the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema! (This is a ticketed event. Please see the ticketing information below.)
From the Arizona desert to refugee camps in Greece, Mediterranean rescue missions and data-labelling centres in Nairobi, The Sandbox shows how borders have become testing grounds for AI, drones and biometric surveillance, and what that costs the people living under them.
Alternating between the people building modern border technology and the people governed by it, Kenya-Jade Pinto's debut feature asks whether technology this powerful can ever be separated from politics, and who is responsible when it causes harm.
