About Event

This program is part of BioBuzz's Career Catalyst series, a weekly virtual program designed for students, recent grads, and early-career professionals navigating the life sciences industry. Our sessions are intentionally built to foster direct, high-quality access to the industry leaders shaping it.

Overview

Your LinkedIn profile can do a lot more than repeat your resume.

It can help recruiters find you, introduce you to people across the industry, showcase what you bring to the table, and open doors to opportunities you may not have known were out there. But to do that, your profile needs to tell people more than where you’ve worked. It should give them a clear sense of who you are, what you can contribute, and where you want to go next.

In this hands-on LinkedIn Lab, we’ll break down the parts of your profile that matter most, including your headline, About section, experience, keywords, and profile photo, and show you how to make each one work harder for you.

But having a great profile is only half of it.

We’ll also talk about how to actually use LinkedIn: who to connect with, what to say in a connection request, how to engage without feeling awkward or forced, and how to turn an online connection into a real professional relationship.

Whether you’re looking for your first role, planning your next move, or simply trying to become more visible in your field, you’ll leave with practical ways to make LinkedIn a tool for your career instead of just another profile you occasionally update.

Key Takeaways

  1. Build a profile that tells your story, not just a copy of your resume.

  2. Make yourself easier to find with stronger headlines, About sections, experience descriptions, and keywords.

  3. Learn how to actually use LinkedIn, including connection requests, engagement, outreach, and profile photos.

  4. Grow a network that matters and learn how to turn online connections into genuine professional relationships.

  5. Walk away with practical updates you can make right away to strengthen your profile and professional presence.
