Each Lightbox features gentle, rhythmic waves of light.
AND THE SUN is an art and design studio engaging broadly with culture, community, and contemplation through art and design made with rigor and care.
Our Speakers
Max Marine, CFA is the founder of Grateful Labs, a profit-for-purpose holding company that builds with, invests in, and accelerates visionary, heart-centered, and earth-rooted founders A.K.A. Giraffes. He also co-founded the Grateful Giraffe community, a global ownership collective of 860+ lifetime members dedicated to human flourishing. Together, the Grateful Giraffe community has produced more than 300 events since 2022. Prior to GG, Max was a VC at lool ventures + iAngels, two early-stage investment firms based in Tel Aviv. In his spare time he plays trumpet & shofar while DJing, as well practices guitar & singing / songwriting.
Ming is an interdisciplinary innovator devoted to the flourishing of humanity and the planet. She co-founded the Conscious Tech Collective and the Flourishing Systems Foundation. Inspired by living systems, she integrates her background in biology (neuroscience), economics, life-centric design, HCI, art, and healing wisdom to build regenerative systems and transformative experiences. Often working behind the scenes, she serves as a “living incubator” or “creativity doula” — supporting communities of innovators through their inner & outer (re)alignment so they can realize their highest potential in service of all beings. She identifies as a new world builder who aims to bring the sacred back to the mundane, making the invisible visible - all to restore connections to ourselves, each other, Nature, and the Cosmos.
Laurence Ion is an entrepreneur and investor dedicated to accelerating innovation, gathering people in pop-up villages like Viva Frontier Tower, Jun 20 - Aug 4, to seed a new society. He co-created Zuzalu (first pop-up city with Vitalik Buterin), Vitalia (first attempt at a permanent longevity city), VitaDAO (funding aging research), among others.
Elliot Roth is the former founder of Spira, a biomanufacturing company that creates carbon-negative materials from engineered algae grown by a global network of farms and Head of Business Development and Venture Portfolio in Agriculture at Deep Science Ventures. He started multiple independent laboratories including IndieLab RVA, Biopunk Society and Cellsius. He is a Kairos, Future Founders and Halcyon Fellow, holds a degree in biomedical engineering; previously started 8 companies, 4 nonprofits, studied synthetic biology for 12 years and worked for 5 years as a product consultant. He is incredibly motivated to solve physiological needs using simple biological design and enabling access to the tools of biotechnology. In his spare time he plays music, and participates in space analog missions while residing in San Francisco.
