How will the November elections affect startups?

The US Presidential and Congressional Elections will set the tone for policy for the next two years, with dramatically different possibilities. Balliol College Alum Chris Oates will talk about the probabilities for each candidate and control of Congress, and discuss what each scenario means for startups, with a focus on some of the most exposed sectors, like climate tech and energy.

Speaker Bio

Dr. Chris Oates is the Founder of Legislata, a policy intelligence platform for the federal, state, and municipal government. Prior to Legislata, Chris was a senior advisor at Oxford Analytica (part of FiscalNote), a UK-based geopolitical and macroeconomic consultancy that advises governments and Fortune 500 companies. He worked on the 2020 Ranked Choice Voting referendum in Massachusetts and is a Lecturer at Boston University’s Frederick Pardee School of Global Studies, where he teaches graduate-level political risk analysis. He has a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Oxford and is (unfortunately this year) a big Red Sox and Patriots fan.
