About the Workshop
This session is about mapping the moments, big and small, that shaped your year, both in your facilitation practice and in the life that surrounds it. Because who we are shows up in how we facilitate.
In a profession where we hold space for others, it’s rare that we pause to truly witness our own journey. This workshop offers that pause, a gentle invitation to look back with honesty, curiosity, and compassion.
Using the Technology of Participation (ToP) Journey Map methodology, we will explore:
Milestones that influenced how we show up in groups
Quiet shifts in our mindset or practice
Experiences outside of facilitation that shaped our resilience, clarity, or purpose
What we want to carry forward, and what we’re ready to release
You’ll leave with a visual map of your 2025 journey and a renewed sense of intention for the year ahead.
No artistic skills required. Just a willingness to reflect.
What Is the ToP Journey Map?
The Journey Map (also known as the Journey Wall) is a core reflective method within the Technology of Participation,a globally practiced facilitation approach grounded in participation, meaning-making, and shared understanding.
Traditionally used with groups to explore collective history, we’ll adapt it for individual reflection, allowing each participant to trace their own arc across the year.
Who This Is For
Facilitators, leaders, consultants, coaches, designers, educators, anyone who supports groups and wants to reflect on how their practice and life intertwined this year. Whether this was a year of expansion, exhaustion, stillness, reinvention, or all of the above, you’ll find a place for it here.
About the Facilitator
Manal Sayid is a consultant and facilitator whose work sits at the intersection of relational intelligence, cultural humility, and intentional process design. Her practice draws from the Technology of Participation, organizational development frameworks, and trauma-informed approaches.
She currently serves as the Regional Director for North America at the International Association of Facilitators (IAF), where she champions accessible learning and community-driven practice across the facilitation field.
Manal brings a warm, reflective, and deeply human-centered style to her sessions, inviting participants into conversations that honour both their skill and their lived experience.
