What might be possible when people meet people as people, not as roles, titles, or experts? 'Tis the season to gather, for connection, stories, and curiosities... and Richmond's first ever Warm Data Lab!
Join Jessica Groopman, Brandon Dube, and Pollinators for Change for a Winter Warm Data Lab on Sunday, December 21st from 1-3pm at a lovely gathering spot called The Brandery (2928 North Avenue
Richmond, VA 23222)
Warm Data Labs have been described as "kaleidoscopes of conversation," offering space for communication that nurtures mutual learning in transcontextual ways. Expect to enjoy listening to others’ enriching stories, be surprised by what you feel inspired to share, random bursts of laughter that sometimes break out, and the possible emergence of deep insights...
No special skills or know-how is required to participate. You’re invited and encouraged to show up as your totally flawed, infinitely complex, living system of a whole self. Join us for a heartfelt, caring exploration of the changing world we are living in, through the full living complexity of who you are. Simply bring your curiosity and your stories, and a friend or three.
Light refreshments will be provided ☕️
Doors open at 12:45 for a prompt start by 1:15!
We depart to enjoy our Solstice evenings by 4pm.

If you are willing, please join us in supporting a local Food Bank called Feed More, that we are supporting to help neighbors get access to nourishing meals. Feed More helps the 1 in 9 neighbors in 29 counties and 5 cities who struggle with hunger.
By bringing non-perishable food donations, you can help make a difference. Suggested items include:
Peanut butter
Canned tuna & chicken
Low sodium vegetables
Fruits packed in juice
We will ensure the food is delivered to Feed More's Community Collection Door after the event.

Warm Data Labs? As the many overlapping crises of this era intensify, so too does the imperative to meet them. The possibility for responding together is not based in how much people know, or who knows what. The possibility is in people improvising together.
To cope and thrive in the changing landscape of today’s world calls us forth to relate with each other in ways we have never done before. The cultivation of new collective possibilities begins with exploring the way we mutually learn as we perceive and make sense of our world.
While there are no straightforward solutions to our collective problems, when we pay attention to our senses, our relationships with one another, and our curiosity, the difference between how things combine within you and how they combine within me allows new collective perceptions to emerge.

The Venue: Brandery Richmond is a collaborative space where creativity, community, and entrepreneurship come together. Located in the heart of Brookland Park on the second floor of a beautifully restored historic building, we are thrilled to be having our lab there.
The venue is on the second floor and may not be fully accessible for all mobility needs. If this affects your ability to join, please let us know and we’ll explore other ways for you to participate.

Developed by Nora Bateson, these gatherings are like the best after-dinner conversations you’ve ever had, with people you may have never met. Participants share their stories and observations about a common question, moving between contexts to explore the day’s topic from different directions. Everyone moves whenever and wherever their curiosity takes them, listening to and creating new points of view. In the last half-hour we come back together as one group and share what we’ve noticed, weaving together the sense we’ve been making.
