MARIETTA WOODS TRAIL SYSTEM Grand Opening
The Borough of Marietta and the Susquehanna Area Mountain Bike Association (SAMBA) are thrilled to announce the grand opening of the Marietta Woods Trail Project, a community-focused initiative designed to expand outdoor recreation and cycling opportunities in Marietta, Pennsylvania. The project will transform underutilized areas of Furnace Hill Park into a shared-use trail system that complements the Northwest Lancaster River Trail and highlights the natural beauty of the Susquehanna River corridor.
The system will include two progressive trail loops suitable for riders of all ages and skill levels, creating a welcoming environment for beginners, families, and experienced cyclists alike. A central feature of the project will be a Bicycle Playground at Front Street Park near the Tot Lot playground. This dedicated skills area will include obstacles such as rollers, bridges, berms, and pump-track features designed to safely build cycling confidence, coordination, and outdoor engagement for children and adults.
Please join us on Saturday, September 5th from 10-2pm for a day of fun. Ribbon cutting will be held at 10am, and we will open the first hour to kids. General admission will start promptly at 11am. Opening day events will include: Guided rides on the new trails at the top of each hour, a captain Jack kid’s adventure ride following the kid’s session at 11am, helmet giveaways, prize raffles with proceeds going to the trail project, local vendors, and food trucks.
