The Modern Village: Intergenerational Speed Friending & Meaningful Connections
The Modern Village
An Intergenerational Speed Friending & Salon Experience
On Friendship, Wisdom & Meaningful Connection
San Francisco | Hayes Valley
An Evening to Rebuild What We’ve Been Missing
You’re warmly invited to a thoughtfully curated evening built around a question that feels increasingly relevant:
What would it look like to rebuild the modern village?
In today’s world, many people are living more independently than ever before.
Older adults often carry a lifetime of wisdom, perspective, and lived experience — yet may find themselves living alone or with fewer natural spaces to share it.
Younger adults are often surrounded by technology, ambition, and constant stimulation — yet many are quietly navigating life without the depth of community, mentorship, and intergenerational friendship they deeply crave.
The Modern Village is a playful, elevated intergenerational salon and speed friending experience designed to bring some of that back.
What This Evening Is
This is a warm, thoughtfully curated gathering designed to bring older and younger adults into meaningful conversation.
Through a series of lightly guided speed friending rounds and salon-style exchanges, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with a range of people in a way that feels natural, engaging, and human.
Think:
less awkward networking
less small talk
less social isolation
more real conversation
more warmth
more surprising connection
This is for people who still believe:
good conversations can change a life
How It Works
The evening will include a series of short, rotating conversations designed to make connection feel easy and genuine:
lightly structured “speed friending” rounds
thoughtful prompts (not awkward icebreakers)
intentional intergenerational pairings
space to continue conversations that naturally click
You won’t be left wondering who to talk to —
the room is designed to help connection flow.
What We’ll Explore
Throughout the evening, conversations will naturally touch on:
friendship and belonging
wisdom and life perspective
how we pass on what matters
what younger and older generations can uniquely offer one another
how to create more meaningful community in modern life
what it means to rebuild “the village” in a time when so many people live alone
This is not a lecture.
It’s not therapy.
It’s not forced networking.
It’s a space designed to feel:
human, thoughtful, playful, and alive
Who This Is For
We are intentionally inviting two groups:
Older adults with perspective to share
Individuals who have lived, built, loved, adapted, and carry the kind of wisdom that comes with time.
Especially those who:
live alone
want more meaningful community
miss thoughtful social connection
enjoy warm, intelligent conversation
Younger adults seeking richer connection
Thoughtful professionals, creatives, founders, and builders who may be successful on paper — but are craving:
mentorship
intergenerational friendship
perspective
belonging
more meaningful human connection
When these groups meet well, something beautiful happens:
wisdom meets curiosity
life experience meets fresh energy
Why This Matters
Many of the spaces where people once naturally found:
mentorship
friendship
belonging
intergenerational connection
…have quietly disappeared.
And yet, across generations, the desire remains the same:
to feel connected, seen, and part of something real
This evening is a small, intentional step toward rebuilding that.
You May Leave With…
a new friend
a new mentor
a meaningful conversation
a fresh perspective
or simply the feeling of having spent time in a room that felt more human than most
