Meet Dr. HanWool Lyu, a Cosmetic Prosthodontist
At our next NKDA event, Dr. Lyu will take us behind the scenes of his journey, from becoming a prosthodontist trained at Columbia University, to mastering complex implant and cosmetic dentistry, to building a thriving digital dental laboratory and most importantly, to discovering how to use his skills and career to live with greater purpose.
Following graduation from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), Dr. Lyu went on to receive his prosthodontic training at Columbia University, where he completed three years of comprehensive implant surgery training under the mentorship of world-renowned implant specialist Dr. Dennis Tarnow. His multidisciplinary expertise allows him to approach complex restorative, cosmetic, and surgical cases with precision and continuity.
As the founder of Hesed Dental in Cliffside Park, NJ, Dr. Lyu continues to pursue clinical excellence while also serving as a faculty instructor of implant dentistry at Hiossen. Beyond the operatory, he organizes Christian dental mission trips through SOMA, bringing together his passion for dentistry and his faith to serve communities in need.
With a passion for natural aesthetics and meticulous attention to detail, Dr. Lyu has received multiple awards for his cosmetic work. In 2018, he founded LAB AND ART Dental Studio, developing a digital dental laboratory workflow that has grown to support more than 30 dentists with cosmetic, implant, and full-mouth reconstruction cases.
But this evening is more than just veneers, implants, or becoming a cosmetic prosthodontist.
It's about the journey behind the success—the decisions, risks, relationships, faith, and lessons that shaped his career—and how we can build lives and careers that are not only successful, but meaningful.
