The Living Question
The Living Question
An Empty Chair Conversation
Should newcomers adapt, or should society change too?
Some questions don't need experts.
They need people.
The Living Question is a monthly conversation series that brings people together around one carefully chosen question that refuses an easy answer.
Hosted in cafés, libraries and cultural spaces across Vilnius, each gathering invites us to think with one another rather than arrive with fixed opinions.
The Empty Chair
At the heart of every evening is one empty chair.
The conversation begins with three invited voices, each from a different background, who take the chair for five minutes to share a personal reflection on the evening's question.
After these opening reflections, the chair becomes open to everyone.
Anyone who wishes may take a seat and has two minutes to share a thought, a story or an experience inspired by the question.
No interruptions. No debates. No need to convince anyone. Just a room of people listening, reflecting, and thinking together.
Our First Question
Should newcomers adapt, or should society change too?
As Vilnius becomes increasingly international, questions of belonging, identity and integration are becoming part of everyday life.
Who carries the greater responsibility? Can belonging ever be one-sided? There won't be one answer.
But perhaps, by the end of the evening, we'll all leave with better questions.
