Coffee & Maíz : Building Community with Stanford's El Centro Chicano y Latino
Join us for a special ABC Coffee Convo featuring maíz-inspired foods, coffee, conversation, and resources from Stanford’s El Centro Chicano y Latino.
Enjoy a Maíz Food Bar featuring esquites, corn quesadillas, sweet corn bread, and sweet tamales. A staple food across North and South America, maíz has played a central role in the food traditions, agricultural histories, and cultural practices of Latin American countries for centuries.
We’ll start things off with a few remarks from Doerr School Professor Rodolfo Dirzo on the significance of Maíz followed by remarks from Dr. Margaret Sena who will highlight resources and opportunities available through Stanford’s El Centro Chicano y Latino, one of Stanford’s cultural centers supporting student success, community, and belonging.
Come enjoy some good food and coffee, learn something new about maíz, discover campus resources, and connect with colleagues and community.
