Candid Club Tarot 101 is a beginner workshop covering the basics of tarot, how a deck works, what the cards mean, and how to start putting them together into a reading.
We’ll go through the Major and Minor Arcana, the four suits, court cards, symbolism, and simple spreads — then move from learning the cards to reading them yourself.
You’ll practice interpreting individual cards, asking better questions, and doing a three-card reading with a partner.
By the end of the session, you’ll have done your first tarot reading yourself.

What We’ll Learn
MEET THE DECK 🔮
We’ll break down how a tarot deck is structured — the 22 Major Arcana, 56 Minor Arcana, four suits, and court cards.
READING THE CARDS
Learn how to look beyond memorised definitions and start reading the imagery, symbols, characters, and relationships within a card.
ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTIONS
How you phrase a question can completely change a reading. We’ll look at how to turn broad or yes/no questions into prompts that give you more to work with.
SIMPLE TAROT SPREADS
Learn beginner-friendly ways to lay out your cards, including one-card and three-card readings.
READING CARDS TOGETHER
A card can change depending on what sits beside it. We’ll practice connecting cards and building a reading rather than interpreting each one separately.
YOUR FIRST READING
Pair up and put everything together with a guided three-card reading for another participant.

PART 1 — YOUR FIRST CARD
Start the workshop by pulling a card from the deck. We’ll come back to it once you know how to read it.
PART 2 — TAROT 101
A quick introduction to tarot, how it’s used, and the anatomy of a deck.
PART 3 — MEET THE CARDS
Major Arcana, Minor Arcana, suits, court cards, and the basic language of tarot.
PART 4 — HOW TO READ A CARD
Look at the imagery, symbolism, characters, details, and traditional meanings — then start forming your own interpretation.
PART 5 — READ YOUR FIRST CARD
Remember the card you pulled when you arrived? Now you get to interpret it yourself.
PART 6 — ASKING BETTER QUESTIONS
Learn how to frame questions before doing a reading.
PART 7 — TAROT SPREADS
Learn simple one-card and three-card spreads you can use on your own.
PART 8 — READ FOR EACH OTHER
Pair up and give each other a guided three-card reading.
PART 9 — CLOSING CARD
Finish with one last card pull and see how differently you read it compared to the beginning of the workshop.
