About Event

The Center for Leadership is partnering with Project Alive to support the Hunter Syndrome Community Conference by volunteering at Kids Camp, a program designed to give parents and caregivers the opportunity to fully participate in conference sessions while their children engage in a safe, inclusive, and fun environment.

Project Alive is a national nonprofit serving the Hunter syndrome community. Hunter syndrome is a rare, progressive genetic disorder that primarily affects boys and requires lifelong care and support. This conference brings families together to access education, resources, and community.

Volunteers will be paired with one to two children as “buddies” and will help support activities such as arts and crafts, games, snack time, and group engagement under the guidance of Beyond Blindness — a nonprofit specializing in services for children with disabilities.

This is a meaningful opportunity to make a direct impact by creating a supportive, engaging experience for children and their families.

Volunteer Shift Options:
• Morning Shift: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM
• Afternoon Shift: 12:30 PM – 5:00 PM
• Full Day: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Volunteer Responsibilities:
• Support children in activities as a buddy
• Assist with snack time and transitions between activities
• Help create an inclusive and welcoming environment
• Follow guidance from Beyond Blindness staff

Volunteers will not be responsible for toileting, diapering, or administering medication. Parents will remain onsite and available if needed.
