About Event

** This is a LIVE interview with author Adele Parks about the craft of writing and reality of building a writing career. Attendees will be sent a recording after the interview. **

What does it really take to write (and publish) a book a year? How do you stay motivated, imaginative, and disciplined across decades?

Adele Parks has spent the last quarter-century answering those questions through her own life and work. Since her debut Playing Away in 2000, she has published 25 books ranging from women’s fiction to psychological thrillers, selling more than 5 million copies across the globe. In 2022, she was awarded an MBE from Queen Elizabeth II for services to literature. Her latest book, Our Beautiful Mess, is out now.

In this conversation, Adele will take us behind the scenes of her writing life, sharing the routines, character work, and creative strategies that have kept her stories fresh and her readership devoted for over two decades.

We’ll also explore:

  • How Adele ideates, plots, and writes her bestselling novels

  • Her move from romance to thrillers, and what each genre has taught her

  • Why she “interviews” her fictional characters to unearth their secrets

  • The discipline and routine behind writing a book a year

  • How she stays motivated and imaginative decades into her career

  • Her approach to dealing with criticism and self-doubt
