Intersection 2026
Intersection, at its core, is grounded in a simple belief: complex challenges cannot be understood or addressed in silos. The issues shaping our societies, economies and environment are deeply interconnected, with each challenge intersecting with others across sectors, systems and communities.
Intersection creates a space to understand the connections between one issue and another, one opportunity and another, and one sector and another. It brings diverse perspectives into the same room to identify shared challenges, uncover new possibilities, and build solutions that are responsive to the realities on the ground.
Intersection 2026 is back with two such crucial and deeply interrelated themes: climate and livelihoods.
India’s climate transition is increasingly a question of how people live, work, earn and build economic security. By 2030, India could account for 34 million of the projected global job losses associated with heat-stress-related productivity decline.
Yet the climate transition also opens significant pathways for new enterprises, green jobs, resilient livelihoods and inclusive economic growth. The World Bank estimates that greener cooling alone could represent a US$1.6 trillion investment opportunity in India by 2040, with the potential to create nearly 3.7 million jobs.
This makes the intersection between climate and livelihoods particularly consequential. How can climate action strengthen livelihoods? How can economic growth become more resilient to climate risks? How can enterprises, workers and communities participate in and benefit from the green transition? And how can finance, policy, technology and markets come together to make this transition inclusive and locally grounded?
Intersection 2026 will bring these questions into one room. By bringing together diverse actors across government, development, philanthropy, business, finance and communities, Intersection 2026 seeks to move beyond viewing climate and livelihoods as separate development agendas and instead examine how their convergence can contribute to a more resilient, inclusive and prosperous Viksit Bharat.
