Beginner ASL - 4 Week Course
Join Deaf performer, dancer, and actor Angel Theory for a fun, expressive introduction to American Sign Language. Whether you're brand new to ASL or simply curious, this beginner-friendly course will give you the foundational tools to communicate confidently and creatively.
Each 60-minute session includes:
45 minutes of core ASL instruction
15 minutes of artistic expression through an ASL song/choreography
Topics covered across the 4 weeks:
Introductions & basic conversation
Family members & relationships
Colors, weather & everyday vocabulary
Emergency signs
Disability, access & accommodation language
What makes this course unique: Angel brings her background as a performer and mover to make ASL feel alive, expressive, embodied, and joyful. All bodies and abilities are welcome. Movement translations are encouraged so that every participant can engage authentically in their own way.
This is a 4-week commitment. Participants are expected to attend all sessions to build progressively on each lesson.
** Each class will be recorded. If you miss a class, no stress. All attendees will receive a recording within 24 hours from the class.

Angel Theory (They/Them) is a professionally known Actress, Choreographer, and Dancer from New York City. You might recognize them from their work on AMC’s The Walking Dead, a Louis Vuitton commercial, the FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremonies, Deaf West Theater, Zoey’s Infinite Playlist, and more. Angel performed as a guest with Infinite Flow Dance in 2019 for a short run of VIP performances at Refinery 29’s 29 Rooms, an immersive pop-up experience December 2018.
