About Event

To look at the world through a different lens is to see that the old ways of relating to the land are still alive. They are found in the quiet spaces, in the moments when we choose to slow our pace to the speed of a moss, or the growth of a root, and simply belong.

~ Robin Wall Kimmerer

Once upon a time, as the wheel of the year turned toward the dark half, the people of the village would naturally draw together. They would walk the lanes, baskets in hand, gathering the gifts of the hedgerows. Sitting side-by-side, they shared stories, laughter, and ancestral wisdom while stripping berries, drying roots, and brewing the remedies that would keep their families safe and warm through the winter.

Somewhere along the way, modern life rushed us indoors, away from the seasons, and away from each other.

This day retreat is a gentle, joyful rebellion against that rush. It is a space created to reignite the ancient, beautiful art of seasonal community medicine making.

As the earth gently shifts into the golden, grounded energy of autumn, our bodies naturally crave a slower pace. I invite you to join me as we sink our boots into the earth, and remember the ancestral ways of seasonal living. Together, as a community, we will learn how to nourish our bodies, tend to our spirits, and craft potent remedies for the coming dark half of the year.

What our day together will hold:

  • A sensory nature walk: we will wander through the stunning landscape of Hideaway Wood Farm, tuning into the rhythm of the season. You will learn to recognise common hedgerow medicinal plants and their uses in herbalism and folk practices.

  • Plant ally meditation: a dedicated time to drop out of your head and into your heart. Through guided meditation, you will be invited to journey deeper with a selected plant ally and explore how we can use our own senses to listen to nature, deriving information through the intuitive method of organoleptic tasting

  • Hands-on medicine making: you will learn practical, lifelong herbal medicine-making skills that you can use to build your own home apothecary. You will get to take home your own handcrafted remedies, alongside comprehensive handouts of the recipes used during the sessions so you can recreate them for years to come.

  • Space to just be: there is no rush here. You will have plenty of time to soak up the beautiful surroundings, play in the stream or simply rest - knowing that there is nowhere else you need to be, and nothing else you need to do.

Fuelling our bodies:

Nature walks and medicine making call for nourishment! We will pause midday for a peaceful lunch together. Please bring along your favourite packed picnic lunch to enjoy.

To keep us cosy throughout the day, I will be providing unlimited custom-blended herbal teas and a selection of delicious homemade cakes for us to share.

What you will leave with:

  • Your own hand-crafted autumn remedies to stock your home apothecary for the winter.

  • The practical knowledge and confidence to identify key seasonal plants in your local area.

  • Clear handouts to help you confidently make your own remedies at home.

  • The warmth of new connections, a sense of belonging, and the beginning of beautiful friendships with a community of like-minded souls

Spaces for this retreat are kept intentionally limited to ensure a nurturing experience for everyone.

The price includes all organic materials and jars needed for the medicine-making sessions, educational handouts, and refreshments.

Come exactly as you are. Bring cosy layers and an open heart. I cannot wait to gather, learn new skills, and share in the magic that unfolds when we welcome the turning of the sun, tending to our inner hearths together as a community on this Autumn Equinox.
