Ippuku: A moment for tea - Sri Lanka
Ippuku is an intimate tea-tasting series at Wanakam exploring tea through taste, history, culture and ritual 🫖
Hosted by Shanthi Fujii, each session takes us somewhere different through five carefully selected teas - slowing down to smell, taste and savour each cup while discovering the people, places and stories behind the leaves 🍂
Expect five teas, tiny bites, conversation and a little tea philosophy along the way. And because a good cup should continue at home, you'll leave with a selection of tea samples to explore afterwards 🍵
Our first Ippuku takes us to Sri Lanka - an island whose history has become inseparable from tea
We begin before colonization with belimal, a traditional herbal tea rooted in Sri Lanka's Ayurvedic traditions. From there, we'll trace the story of how colonialism transformed a coffee-growing island into one of the world's great tea producers, exploring plantations, terroir, the people behind the leaves and how tea became part of everyday life.
We'll taste five very different expressions:
🫖Belimal
🫖Single Estate TGOP with Tea Flowers
🫖Single Estate Orange Pekoe
🫖Shanthi's Chai
🫖Wanakam Chai
Five teas. Tiny bites. Stories, history and ritual and some tea to take home.
This event will be €20 per person.
