Malörtoween 2026 Meetup
Where our witches at? Halloween lands on a Saturday this year, so let's get weird, get nerdy, get witchy with it.
Costumes are highly encouraged. Come as Spike Spiegel, Brock Samson, Makima. Or Dana Scully and Agent Cooper as an FBI power couple. Hell, go full undead Bela Lugosi and grab that translucent black cape back off the rack.
Malörtoween is our first meetup as Join Dayton (formerly the r/Dayton meetups): a Halloween meetup and a fundraiser for WYSO, the local NPR station out of Yellow Springs.
10% of bar sales all day go to WYSO.
Gus at The Barrel House is turning Halloween candy into Malört infusions. It'll be hard to top his insane infusions from our Spaceballs meetup (people still talk about the Liquid Schwartz shots), but these candy infusions should be delicious abominations.
The fun stuff:
The special Malört flight: A six-shot flight, each infused with a Halloween candy:
Candy corn
Good & Plenty
Caramel apple suckers
And three mystery infusions
The Malört Wheel of Doom: Gus' only spoiler so far: "there will be a spinny wheel involved" - the rest is a surprise.
Drinks: The best craft beer selection in Dayton + full hot/cold tea menu and other NA options.
Food: Dayton Street Snacks food truck on the back patio. You can order inside from a tablet and they'll bring food in for you. Easy peasy.
Costumes: Have fun with it. Not feeling it? That's cool too. Don't let it keep ya from coming.
A few things to know:
Duration: We're there officially from 3 to 7. But for those that wanna stay longer and keep hanging with new friends, the bar is open until 1am and Juliet Fromholt from WYSO starts DJing at 8pm until midnight, so stay as long as you like.
Text updates: Add your phone number when you RSVP if you want optional text updates for this event.
Parking: Spaces are available to the left of the building and behind it. Street parking around the area if the lot fills up.
Check-in: Have your Luma QR code from the confirmation email ready at the door. It speeds up check-in. Can't find it? No big deal.
Photos: We’ll likely have An and Jacinto shooting photos and video for our Instagram, plus a cool timelapse running above the bar, so future attendees can see what these meetups look like. The Barrel House is small, so expect to show up in crowd shots. If you’d rather not be in them, tell An or Jacinto, or just step out of frame for a sec, and we’ll try our best to keep you out. Realistically though, we can’t guarantee you won’t end up in the background of some shots. Want a shot of you and your crew in costume? Just ask An or Jacinto.
Nervous? That's okay, many are. Costumes make it easy: compliment one and you've got a conversation going.
See you there. 🎃
PS: Follow us on Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook @joindayton. We'll be on Stories while we set up at the event, then posting photos and video from the night. Tag your costume pics #joindayton and we'll reshare our favorites.
