About Event

Every Tree, Every Fire: A Living Map of Forest Risk

Co-hosted by CTrees and Earth Fire Alliance (EFA) at the Doris Duke Foundation’s Treehouse, this New York Climate Week event will bring two missions into one room: CTrees' work to see every tree on Earth and EFA's mission to make every fire visible with the FireSat constellation.

Together, they point toward a living map of forest risk and a new ability to act on it.

Coming out of the event, the goal is a shared blueprint for how forest monitoring and the finance, policy, and management it informs can co-evolve to make healthy, fire-resilient forests possible.

Panel 1 | The Need

The first panel focuses on the people who carry wildfire risk today. Drawing on the knowledge of managers, communities, scientists, and the insurers and investors exposed to large-scale fire, panelists will explore what changes when forests and the fires that threaten them can finally be seen at full resolution.

  • Chris Anthony, Founder and CEO, FireWERX

  • Evrim Bunn, Senior Advisor, US Wildland Fire Service

  • Greg Cooper, Director of Conservation Implementation, Sustainable Forestry Initiative

  • Brian Kitler, Chief Program Officer, Resilient Forests, American Forests

  • Chris Woodall, Director of US Forest Science and Policy, CTrees (moderator)

Panel 2 | The Reveal

The second panel turns to what that convergence unlocks: FireSat's global wildfire monitoring in concert with CTrees' tree-scale biometrics and carbon accounting, and the resilience, stewardship, and investment decisions the combined signal makes possible.

  • Ane Alencar, Director of Science, IPAM

  • Santiago García, Director, Forests Partnerships, Environmental Defense Fund (EDF)

  • Mike Falkowski, Lead Scientist, Earth Fire Alliance (EFA)

  • Sassan Saatchi, CEO and Chief Scientist, CTrees

  • Keith Masback, Founding Principal, EFA (moderator)
