The Rising Lunar Economy
Join us for this exciting and timely Caltech Entrepreneurs Forum on the emerging lunar economy. Prof. Bethany Ehlmann will give a keynote lecture on the upcoming NASA lunar mission called Lunar Trailblazer, to explore and assess the presence and abundance of water resources on the Moon. NASA, many international space agencies, private startup companies, venture funds and many more are eagerly expecting a series of robotic and human missions to go back to the Moon en masse, this time to stay and maintain a permanent presence on the Moon. An essential precursor to the larger presence on the Moon includes assessing and prospecting resources on the Moon, in-situ resource utilization, creating permanent human settlements, and developing a sustainable and vibrant lunar economy for the benefit of Humankind. Most recently, Japan's JAXA space agency's SLIM mission landed successfully on the Moon, whereas the USA startup company Astrobotic failed to reach the Moon in its first attempt. There are still many attempts being planned in the coming months and years by Astrobotic, Intuitive Machines, Firefly, the NASA Artemis II and III human mission to the Moon and many more. A panel of space entrepreneurs focused on the emerging lunar economy and exploration will present their goals and plans to go back to the Moon, and take questions from the audience on the growth of the emerging lunar economy.
