Same Skills, New Mission: Moving into Nonprofit & Impact Work
You've got the skills. But breaking into the nonprofit and impact space as a freelancer comes with its own set of challenges – from translating your experience to navigating a sector that works differently.
This hands-on workshop – a collaboration between The Bloom and Freelancing for Good – digs into the big questions, recurring tensions, and practical steps for translating your skills into meaningful work. We'll start by unpacking the beliefs that hold freelancers back from making the move ("I don't have sector experience", "They don't need my skills", "I'd have to start from scratch") and reframe why experience from outside the sector can actually be your superpower.
From there, we'll work through a practical exercise to help you map your existing skills to real needs in the impact space. You'll leave with a clearer picture of your impact freelance niche, a positioning statement you can start using right away, and a concrete list of places to find opportunities.
Expect a mix of reflection, live exercises, and honest conversation – not a lecture.
Our guest is Maja, co-founder of Freelancing for Good, a community for freelancers who are passionate about making a positive impact.
🎙 About the speaker:
Maja Nenadov Webster is a freelance marketer and co-founder of Freelancing for Good — a platform connecting impact-driven freelancers with organisations doing meaningful work. The idea was born from countless conversations with talented freelancers who wanted to do work that mattered — and organisations doing incredible things who couldn't find them. So Freelancing for Good became the bridge between the two. What started as a simple one-page website has grown into a global platform where impact-driven freelancers can find their people, grow their practice, and discover projects that actually align with their values — while nonprofits, charities, social enterprises, and B Corps can find the skilled, purpose-driven freelance support they need to do more good in the world.
