People's Inequality Hearing on the World Bank and IMF

The People’s Inequality Hearing on the IMF and World Bank

Everything costs more. Food. Fuel. Bills. Rent. Meanwhile, the richest keep getting richer. That's not bad luck. It’s by design.

While Finance Ministers meet behind closed doors at the IMF and World Bank Annuals, the people paying the price take the floor. Activists from Africa, Asia and Latin America testify. A panel of decision makers responds.

Join Fight Inequality Alliance as we host this event bringing together civil society, trade unions, economists, governments, and international organisations to hear from frontline activists, building on our organising in 50+ countries to create a new economy that works for the 99%.

The alternative is concrete. The People's Declaration, written by and for the 99%, calls for immediate support for expensive food and fuel, fair taxation of wealth, debt cancellation, public-service investment, a fairer global financial architecture.

Hearing panel:
-Surya Deva - UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Development
-Kate Pickett - Consultative Committee - International Panel on Inequality, author and academic
-Grieve Chelwa - Associate Professor and Vatican Jubilee Commissioner on Debt & Development
-Henrik Harboe - Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Founding Government of the International Panel on Inequality
