Reclaiming the Moral High Ground
Why do smart people keep losing arguments to ideologues?
In this discussion, we’ll focus on topics that have been publicly debated in recent history, including:
Socialism vs. Capitalism
Religion vs. Atheism
Abortion
Racism
SF issues: drug use, housing regulation, policing
In each of these debates, one side is often less logical, more contradictory, and lacks substantive arguments. Yet, that side frequently persuades a broader audience and wins popular support.
Effectively arguing for the truth is challenging, and there is much we can learn from the success of flawed ideologies. Our discussion will draw from the talk “Lessons from the Intellectual Success of Marxism”.
We invite you to listen to the talk and join us in discussing how to reclaim the moral high ground.
