field.office.01 Giawalk and (herb) talk with Nommo Apothecary
spend some time with Nommo Apothecary and GIALOC as we get to know the local flora and rocks of ridgewood. before moving as a group, we will make space for gentle observation - noticing intuitive and sensory modes of perception. following our reflections, we will walk as an opportunity to be present with ourselves, the energy moving through us, our natural surroundings, and the neighborhood.
along the way we will encourage curiosity, explore the botanical and medicinal qualities of the plants encountered, look at rocks together, and meet new people. the walk will end at Lovitt NYC with hand-crafted, locally grown tea from Nommo Apothecary for home.office.02.
we ask that everyone be mindful of what they collect along the way and of the people living in the communities we walk through. try to not take too many rocks and please consent with the plants and the gardeners before taking field samples (specimens or photos).
this event is an outdoor affair, so come ready for any weather, rain or shine! we will cancel only for severe or dangerous weather. please bring a hydrating drink and a book for plant pressings. the meeting point will be sent to those who RSVP. all funds will be received by our hosts and no one will be turned away for lack of funds.
field.office.01 is grateful to welcome Simone Davis of Nommo Apothecary and Loc Nguyen of GIALOC to guide us through a Giawalk and (herb) talk.
Simone Davis is an herbalist, gardener, educator, and founder of Nommo Apothecary. In practice as a clinical herbalist for 9 years, she has run a Brooklyn Apothecary and oversees a free Community Herb Clinic at ArborVitae School of Traditional Herbalism. her work takes on many forms and particularly upholds sharing plant wisdom with marginalized communities to foster empowerment through collective well-being. she is guided by regenerative practices that focus on seasonal attunement.
GIALOC is a collective design studio exploring how belonging can be intentionally rebuilt into modern life. GIALOC creates gatherings, artifacts and philosophy that challenge systems of connection and reimagine interdependence.
field.office.02 is a place for connection and research – weaving heterotopias, plant knowledge, strollology, sensory perception, and design.
