1｜About Kansai

​Kansai — the Osaka-Kyoto-Kobe region — is one of Japan's most concentrated life science hubs, with a centuries-old pharmaceutical industry, deep expertise in regenerative medicine and immunology, and a fast-growing medtech and biomanufacturing cluster backed by national research institutes and hospital networks. It's also home to one of Japan's largest university-driven startup platforms, bringing together dozens of universities, hospitals, and research institutions across the region to translate frontier science into real ventures.

​This event brings a curated group of researchers from that ecosystem to Singapore — many working at the earliest stages of turning breakthrough research in areas like diagnostics, therapeutics, medical devices, and digital health into companies. They're here not for a trade show pitch, but to build real relationships: with investors, hospitals, universities, and industry partners who can help shape where their science goes next.

​This showcase is presented by the Kansai Startup Academia Coalition (KSAC), a platform connecting universities, industry, financial institutions, and local governments across the Kansai region to build a globally competitive startup ecosystem rooted in university research. Through initiatives spanning entrepreneurship education, funding, and international outreach, KSAC supports researchers as they take their science from the lab to the world.
