The Dark Proteome: A New Frontier in Drug Discovery
The Dark Proteome: A New Frontier in Drug Discovery
Inaugural Greater Boston Gathering
Roughly 98% of the human genome was long regarded as non-coding, yet it encodes a vast and largely uncharacterized layer of biology: the dark proteome, comprising hundreds of thousands of novel proteins arising from non-canonical open reading frames. This inaugural gathering introduces the field to the Greater Boston research and industry community and brings together three organizations whose capabilities span discovery, data infrastructure, and clinical validation.
The Collaboration
NonExomics — Discovery, characterization, prioritization, and de-risking of novel targets and therapeutic candidates from the non-canonical genome.
Persistent Systems — Production-grade AI engineering and secure, scalable data infrastructure for the life sciences.
VCR Park — Patient-derived organoid models, advanced imaging, and a clinical network for functional and translational validation.
