About Event

This session is for funders and grantmaking teams. Whether supporting LGBTIQ+ communities is a dedicated portfolio or something that shows up in your grantmaking without a name on it (whether you've clocked it yet or not, it is).

We will explore The Matchbox Fund's experience as a young fund, running its first LGBTIQ+-designated (and third-ever) funding round. Committed to get outreach, visibility, and trust right for communities that funders often consider hard to reach, we will review what they tried, what worked, what didn't, and what they're changing because of it.

This will be a first look at insights that will be published afterward as a case study for other funders. With lessons grounded in LGBTIQ+-designated funding, these insights hold just as true for any highly intersectional, hard-to-reach, or isolated community in your portfolio. Participants in the room will have a chance to shape it before it goes out.

Space is limited, hosted at Outright International's NYC headquarters near the UN. Address shared on RSVP approval.

Who are your hosts?

The Matchbox Fund: a young fund backing bold, early-stage work that sits outside traditional philanthropic visibility with funding that moves fast and prioritizes clarity and momentum over polished proposals.

Waypoint Commons: a shared space for practitioners, funders, and partners to convene and collaborate, in person and virtually, enabling more resources and greater safety for organizations serving LGBTIQ+ communities. All are welcome in the commons.

Outright International: a global LGBTIQ+ human rights organization advancing rights, safety, and visibility worldwide through UN advocacy, research, and direct support for grassroots movements, generously hosting this session.
