Challenger Cities Salon - Toronto
Toronto keeps telling itself it's world class. It should be asking why it keeps underperforming what it already has.
A genuinely diverse, economically significant, physically interesting city that has spent thirty years auditioning for a status it could simply claim. The question is what changes when Toronto stops seeking permission and starts acting on what it actually has.
The Challenger Cities Salon. Toronto. May 13th. The Cameron House.
A different format from the suppers and drinks. Three or four salonistes ... people with genuinely different vantage points on the city, who'll take a position, make an argument, and push back on each other ... and a deliberately mixed room that won't sit quietly. Part live podcast, part structured argument, part meetup that got slightly out of hand. We open with a provocation, the room talks back and we turn what's been said into something worth sharing after.
Hosted by Iain Montgomery, founder of Challenger Cities. Salonistes include Jen Angel from Evergreen, Ilana Altman from The Bentway, Maryam Siddiqi former Lifestyle Editor with the Globe and Mail, Alex Bozikovic architecture critic of the Globe and Mail, and Steven Paynter, Studio Director at Gensler.
Tickets from CAD $25. Space limited.
