Have you ever wondered how you can use your career or resources to help others as effectively as possible?
Most of us want to have a positive impact on the world, but we often lack a strategic framework to decide where to focus our efforts. In this introductory talk, we will explore the foundations of Effective Altruism (EA): a global project that uses evidence and reason to identify the world's most urgent problems and put them into action.
We will explore:
The Effectiveness Mindset: Why are some ways of helping 100x more impactful than others?
Prioritisation Tools: How to compare different causes by looking at their scale, how neglected they are, and how easy they are to solve.
Strategic Action: What this looks like in practice, from highly effective giving to high-impact career paths.

The Intro Fellowship
This session serves as the opening event for the EA UPF Intro Fellowship, a 6-week program designed to dive deeper into these ideas.
This introductory talk is open to everyone as a standalone event. But if you aren't already familiar with Effective Altruism and are interested in having a greater positive impact on the world, we highly recommend signing up to the full fellowship!
