Welcome to MICHAELTHON.

Welcome to the fourth session of Michaelthon,
ACT I: The Jackson 5, Session 004: "1973" - June 20th, 2026 - 7:30 PM EST / 6:30 PM PT
As the Jackson 5 grew weary of their signature sound, times were changing - and Michael's voice was getting deeper. 1973 marks an important and transitional year where everything in regards to the signature and artistry of Michael Jackson come into fruition. With Skywriter, not reaching the heights of earlier albums, it marked a transitional record for a group willing to explore different sounds to show range.
Simultaneously, Michael releases his third studio album Music & Me (1973) - a solo album that would later prove to be a direct sonic foreshadowing of HIStory: Past, Present & Future.
After the departure of the Corporation, The Jackson 5 team up with Hal Davis to produce their most adventurous and progressive album yet: G.I.T. (Get It Together),- which we'll be listening to in full. However, it would be the final track on the album, Dancing Machine, that would breathe new life into the group's success.
