Advancing Menstrual Health, Hygiene and Climate Justice

​Africa's green economy conversation often treats the circular economy as a technical or industrial challenge. But some of the most resilient circular models already exist at the community level, built by young women who have turned everyday waste and consumption problems into local, reusable solutions.

This event brings that model into the room, not as a slide deck, but as a story told on screen.

Aya Youth Alliance and partner organizations are convening a multi-stakeholder platform focused on menstrual health, data, and climate resilience. The session opens with a short documentary following young women who needed an alternative, built one, and changed their communities in the process. It frames the question the wider conference is grappling with: what happens when we treat young women not as beneficiaries of green solutions, but as their designers and producers.

This Activity will produce
• A short film documenting women-led circular innovation, produced to a broadcast standard
• A youth-authored policy communiqué making the case that menstrual health data is a clinical priority
• Stronger visibility for menstrual health within global climate and policy discourse, through joint advocacy with our co-hosts and partners

Why Support Matters Now
Climate resilience is a necessary foundation for the data infrastructure needed to close diagnostic gaps in menstrual health. That case is stronger made with evidence than with advocacy alone. Resourcing this event resources the research, production, and convening required to make that evidence public, and to put youth-led design at the center
