Artist Bio

Nishant Malhotra (b. 1996) is an Indian-American artist living and working in New York City. His paintings draw upon Vedic and Indic philosophical traditions, using abstraction and figuration to explore impermanence, identity, and consciousness.

Working primarily in acrylic, oil, and pastel, Malhotra builds dense, layered compositions in which figures emerge and dissolve within fields of color and gesture. Rather than treating philosophy as subject matter, he employs it as compositional logic, allowing ideas such as anitya (impermanence), anatta (non-self), and prana (life force) to shape the structure of the work itself.

Bridging contemporary painting with ancient systems of thought, his practice reflects on how meaning, perception, and selfhood evolve within an increasingly mediated world
