THRIVE! Conversations with our SHEroes & HEroes featuring author Qin Qin
What does THRIVING mean to you?
What do you need and want to THRIVE in your self-development as a young adult?
What do you need and want to THRIVE as an Asian-Australian in society?
We invite you to join us in an interactive conversation about THRIVING as a person, and also as an Asian-Australian with Qin Qin author of Model Minority Gone Rogue, chosen in 2025 as Top 6 Books in Australia by The Age and Top 4 books nationally by ACT.
Joining Qin Qin in conversation is New Generation Asian-Australian Christina Siqi Yang who is passionate about storytelling that inspires action, documentary production, and creative content to connect with diverse audiences, and has lived in Melbourne, Sydney, Singapore, and China.
...and importantly, we're making space for you to share your own perspectives and ideas in our TEDx community conversation.
QinQin "We all grow up with rules. Do this, be this, don't be that. But you don't have to conform to others' expectations" Whether you're an unfulfilled overachiever or too bound by rules, Qin Qin's story will resonate with anyone wanting to become who you truly are, not who you're expected to be. Qin Qin’s mission is to live consciously and help others do the same. Born in China and raised in Australia, she began her career as a model minority poster child at 5. By 29, she was a Harvard graduate with four degrees working for UNICEF. After a quarter-life crisis, Qin Qin realised life wasn't an exam to ace. Since then, she's defied expectations to find success on her own terms. Her memoir and book "Model Minority Gone Rogue" (2024) reveals the messy, liberating journey to choose love over fear. She was named a 40 under 40: Most Influential Asian Australian. Watch QinQin's TEDx Talk here
