Building Network Cultures
Have you ever felt like you don't really belong in any pre-existing culture? I certainly do.
Balaji once said there is a growing number of people who are "geographically far but ideologically close" as well as "geographically close but ideologically far." In this increasingly online and personalized algorithm-driven worlds, pre-internet ethnic and national cultures are becoming less influential in people's lives and worldviews. But the question is, what comes next? How do we re-centralize around people who share our beliefs and create new cultures?
This here is a space for us to connect with each other and discuss how we can create new and better cultures based on beliefs and values instead of geography or ethnicity.
This event will be more of a group discussion than a presentation. I'll talk for a few minutes to introduce some of these ideas, and then we can break out into groups and discuss how we view the future of culture.
