SEED TO SUPPER
Seed to Supper: One Ingredient. Many Stories.
Featured Ingredient: Collard Greens
What can one ingredient teach us about culture, history, and community?
Join Soulful Change and Queen Mother’s Market for Seed to Supper, a three-part community experience exploring how a single ingredient connects people across continents, generations, and traditions.
This season, we’ll follow the story of collard greens—from garden to table—while learning how African, African American, Caribbean, and other global communities have cultivated, prepared, and passed down this resilient plant.
Whether you’re an experienced gardener or planting for the first time, you’ll leave with new skills, meaningful conversations, and a deeper appreciation for the stories our food carries.
🌱 Garden Day 1
August 8 | 9:30–11:30 AM
Learn about collard greens, plant together, and begin growing your own story. Participants are welcome to attend for all or part of the session (minimum one hour encouraged).
🌿 Garden Day 2
September 12 | 9:30–11:30 AM
Reconnect in the garden, care for what we’ve planted, and explore the cultural history and traditions surrounding collard greens. Participants are welcome to attend for all or part of the session (minimum one hour encouraged).
🍽️ Community Harvest Dinner
October 30 | 3:00–8:00 PM
Celebrate the season with a chef-prepared dinner by Chef Mona, featuring collard greens interpreted through multiple cultural traditions. Together we’ll share food, stories, and conversation around one simple question:
How can one ingredient carry so many stories?
Each gathering will include opportunities to learn, reflect, and connect through guided conversation. You’re welcome whether you attend one event or all three, though participating in the full series offers the richest experience.
Come grow something. Learn something. Share something.
One ingredient. Many stories.
