• Fintech: New Jersey is home to more than 25% of the world’s top fintech companies and ranks #2 in the U.S. for cybersecurity jobs. The state’s fintech sector is supported by significant venture capital investments, with over USD 5.5 billion invested in 2021 alone.
• Artificial Intelligence (AI): New Jersey’s AI sector is powered by institutions like Stevens Institute for Artificial Intelligence, which collaborates with global giants like Google and IBM. New Jersey’s AI hubs focus on ethical AI and computational algorithms, areas of significant growth in Canada’s AI ecosystem.
• Life Sciences: New Jersey hosts 14 of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies worldwide. The state’s life sciences sector attracts over USD 7 billion annually in health innovation investments. For Canadian companies, particularly those in biotech, New Jersey offers 202,000 square meters of R&D lab space and access to industry-leading institutions like the New Jersey Innovation Institute (NJII), which facilitated over 30% of all U.S. cell and gene therapy developments. With a strong life sciences sector, New Jersey companies can partner with Canadian research institutions and biotech firms to co-develop new therapies and medical technologies.
