Welcome to Logos Circle Aba #4
Our last Circle continued our focus on Housing and the practical issues affecting tenants and landlords in our community.
We brought tenants, landlords, community members, and a lawyer from our Circle together to discuss tenancy rights and responsibilities, rent challenges, tenancy agreements, and practical ways to address housing issues.
One of the key outcomes was a landlord’s commitment to cancel six months’ rent for three Circle members living in his house. Two other landlords also committed to waiving landlord/tenancy agreement fees and caution fees for their tenants.
We also continued developing Know Your Landlord & Tenant (KYLT) as a practical housing rights and awareness initiative.
HOUSING REMAINS OUR FOCUS
For this Circle, we will continue building on the work already started.
We will:
Continue the KYLT housing rights and awareness campaign.
Share practical information on tenancy rights and responsibilities.
Follow up on commitments made by landlords.
Identify tenants facing genuine rent difficulties.
Explore practical ways the Circle can support selected tenants.
Document housing cases and outcomes.
Identify other housing issues we can work on together.
Our Circle lawyer will continue to support the housing awareness campaign and provide guidance where needed.
