GESA Company Spotlight Series: Inside Planet Labs - Earth Observation, Satellite Data & the Future of Geospatial Intelligence

Unlocking Earth Through Satellite Data

What if we could observe our planet almost every day, detect how it is changing, and turn those observations into information that helps us understand and solve real-world challenges?

Join the Geospatial Engineering Students Association (GESA), University of Nairobi, for an exciting edition of our Company Spotlight Series, featuring Planet Labs - a global leader in satellite Earth observation and geospatial data.

This session gives students a chance to go beyond the classroom and explore how satellite imagery, Earth observation, remote sensing, and geospatial intelligence help us understand our changing planet and address real-world challenges.

We are delighted to host Kenneth Mubea, PhD, Impact Engagement Manager at Planet Labs, who will share his professional journey and provide insights into Planet Labs, its technologies, applications, and the growing opportunities within the Earth observation and geospatial technology ecosystem.

🚀 WHAT TO EXPECT

🔹 From Geospatial Engineering to Planet Labs
Discover Kenneth Mubea's academic and professional journey and the experiences that shaped his career in the geospatial and Earth observation industry.

🔹 Inside Planet Labs
Explore what Planet Labs does and how satellite constellations, high-resolution imagery, and geospatial data are being used to monitor and understand our changing planet.

🔹 Beyond the Satellite Image
Learn how Earth observation is being applied to areas such as agriculture, environmental monitoring, conservation, climate research, disaster response, and other real-world challenges.

🔹 Careers in Earth Observation & Geospatial Technology
Gain insights into emerging career pathways, industry skills, and opportunities for students interested in remote sensing, GIS, spatial data science, satellite technology, and related fields.

🔹 Interactive Q&A
Bring your questions and engage directly with Kenneth during an interactive session.
