Straddling the Veil ~ an afternoon between worlds
There are seasons when we find ourselves somewhere in the middle.
Between who we have been and who we are becoming.
Between what we are still holding close and what we are beginning to reach toward.
Between an ending we can feel and a beginning that has not yet fully taken shape.
Straddling the Veil is an immersive afternoon devoted to the spaces between.
When familiar ground begins to shift, we often rush to find our footing again. To name what is happening. To decide what comes next. This gathering offers another possibility: spending some time inside the threshold itself.
Through ritual, sound, plants, touch, reflection, art, and community, we’ll explore the different ways we orient when the whole path is not yet visible—and the relationships, practices, and resources that remind us we do not move through these spaces alone.
CROSSING THE THRESHOLD
Your experience begins before you enter the house.
As you arrive, Felicia De-La Garza Mercer will offer a brief copal smoke cleansing, offering, and connection to spirit before you cross the threshold into Dandelion House.
From there, we’ll gather as a community for an opening ceremony calling in the five directions—East, South, West, North + Heart.
You’ll be invited to call to mind someone or something you want beside you for the journey: an ancestor, friend, plant, animal, place, energy, guide, or another source of support meaningful to you.
We arrive with our own relationships and resources. Together, they begin to form a larger web.
TWO GUIDED ENCOUNTERS
After our opening, you’ll move through two intimate guided experiences, selected upon arrival.
SONALI KRISH | SOMATIC INQUIRY + SOUND
An embodied exploration of resonance, sensation, movement, and sound. Listen for what draws you closer, what asks for distance, where you notice expansion or contraction, and what helps you find orientation while somewhere in between.
VANESSA ROSAGE | HERBAL MAKING + PLANT RELATIONSHIP
Gather, make, and spend time in relationship with plants through herbal preparations including fire cider and elderberry syrup—exploring tending, nourishment, preservation, and the resources we gather for changing seasons.
DR. GABRIELLE “DR. GAB” WAGABAZA | MIRROR WORK + FASCIAL FACIAL
A Mirror Work experience rooted in Dr. Gab’s Fascial Facial approach, weaving gentle fascial touch with reflection to soften, regulate, and meet yourself. Guided reflection and journaling create space to witness what you see, what you feel, and the self still emerging.
FELICIA DE-LA GARZA MERCER | RITUAL + RELEASE
A gentle ritual for the threshold between what you are ready to release and what you are ready to receive. Within a circle of salt and white flowers, each participant will be offered a limpia with herbs, candle, and copal—creating space for clearing, intention, and renewal. Your candle travels home with you so the ritual can continue beyond the afternoon.
THEN, THE HOUSE OPENS.
The structure loosens. The rooms remain alive, but how you move between them becomes yours to decide.
Follow what has your curiosity.
Return somewhere you have already been. Let sound wash over you or make some of your own. Pull an herbal tarot card. Sit with the plants. Receive facial fascial work. Enter a moment of ancestral listening. Add something to the art room. Step outside. Have tea. Rest. Use the sauna. Stay longer somewhere than you expected. Change your mind.
There will be more invitations than you have time to accept.
You are not meant to experience everything. Part of the practice is choosing.
Throughout the open house, you may encounter:
Resonance + Expression with Sonali — an interactive sound environment for receiving, listening, moving, vocalizing, exploring instruments, and translating sensation into color, shape, texture, or mark-making.
Plants + Herbal Tarot with Vanessa — linger with herbs, explore through the senses, spend time outside, and engage with herbal tarot as another language for listening and reflection.
Fascial Facial + Integration with Dr. Gab — brief individual opportunities for gentle facial fascial work as another layer of embodied integration.
Ancestral Listening with Felicia — brief pláticas and ancestral messages offered through oracle cards and intuitive listening for those who feel called to receive.
The Art Room — an open space for making, reflecting, and contributing to the collective installation taking shape throughout the house.
The spaces between — tea, nourishing snacks, sauna, outside spaces, conversation, quiet, and whatever you discover when there is nowhere in particular you have to be.
Somewhere between belonging
Running through the afternoon will be an evolving community art installation beginning with one invitation:
"I am somewhere between ______ and ______."
Words. Thread. Plants. Images. Drawings. Fragments. Offerings.
You’ll be invited to add to the communal art as you move through the house—not only what you are navigating, but something you might offer to the larger interconnection of community.
Something that begins as many individual experiences slowly becomes interconnected.
RETURNING TO THE CENTER
Eventually, sound will call us home.
We’ll return to one another and bring the Web of Belonging into the center to witness what has taken shape while we were apart.
Rather than needing to explain the afternoon, you’ll be invited to offer something smaller:
One word. One sensation.
Dr. Gab will guide us through a closing meditation, with optional consensual touch, before we return to the directions and the supports we called in at the beginning and close the container together.
Arrive → orient → cross → encounter → wander → integrate → return.
Nourishing snacks + tea will be available throughout the afternoon.
