What can Kiez-Investing do for Businesses in Berlin?
Are you interested in making Berlin and your Kiez more resilient? Can you imagine living in a city full of thriving businesses that regenerate the neighborhoods and ecosystems they depend on? Have you ever wondered why your favorite neighborhood business closed even with loyal customers walking through the door everyday?
If you answered yes to any of these, this online event is for you. We, as the Regenerative Business Hub Berlin, are inviting a first cohort of Berliners to learn about and help pilot a new way to invest in businesses that help make your city worth living in.
What we know?
The businesses that make Berlin and your Kiez feel like home, the ones woven into daily life here, are struggling to raise capital aligned with their needs and values.
Meanwhile, we, Berliners, have more than €150 million in private savings and when we invest as individuals, it typically goes either into the 'black box' of ETFs and shares, where we rarely know what we're actually funding or into 'safe' savings accounts, which are safe until the city or economy around them isn't.
What we'd like to share with you?
If there are neighborhood businesses you already love and support, you can start or be part of a micro-community of customer-investors who don't just buy their products and services but also offer micro capital to help them meet demand and build resilience.
If you've ever donated to a worthy cause, you could have been an investor already. These regenerative businesses can do so much with even a one-off investment of €100 each. If there are just 100 investors in your micro-community , that's already a substantial amount for them.
What you'll get out of this session?
A clear picture of how the pilot works, who it's for, what the risks are, and what it asks of you as an early supporter
A chance to ask questions directly and share feedback about the model as we roll it out.
