Osteoarthritis Surgical Innovation and Science (OASIS) Symposium
Osteoarthritis Surgical Innovation & Science (OASIS) Symposium, hosted by the Aging Initiative, aims to galvanize discussion, research, and innovation toward osteoarthritis, cartilage degeneration, and associated diseases. Note: registration approval is required to attend!
We are pleased to be joined by leading experts advancing osteoarthritis research and care, including innovations in cartilage imaging, drug development, tissue engineering, polymeric scaffolds, epigenetic risk identification, clinical treatment, and more.
Our Current Speaker List for OASIS 2026 is outlined below:
Osteoarthritis Pathology, Imaging and Clinical Treatment: Dr. Brian Snyder (Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at Harvard Medical School, Sports Medicine Orthopedic Surgeon at Boston Children’s Hospital).
The Future of Clinical Innovation in Osteoarthritis: Dr. Ali Guermazi (Professor of Radiology and Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine). Dr. Christian Latermann (Department Chief of Sports Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Assistant Professor at Harvard Medical School)
The Genetics and Epigenetics of Osteoarthritis: Dr. Michelle Yau (Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, Assistant Scientist at Hinda and Arthur Marcus Institute for Aging Research)
Tissue Engineering in Osteoarthritis: Dr. Sarah Jachim (Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Craft Lab at Boston Children’s Hospital)
Drug Development in Osteoarthritis: Dr. Ronnen Rubenoff (Former VP, Global Head, Translational Medicine Discovery and Profiling at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research). Greg Erman, MBA (CEO of Longevity Biotech NewCo. Previous CEO of EmpiraMed)
Osteoarthritis represents one of the greatest unmet medical needs of our time. Despite affecting hundreds of millions of people worldwide, our current standard of care still remains largely focused on symptom management rather than addressing the causal factors of the disease and underlying pathology. It is of the utmost importance that we catalyze a collective effort and inspire the next generation to take action. The OASIS Symposium brings together students, researchers, and industry experts to discuss and engage with novel solutions for reversing the effect of aging on cartilage and joints. We hope that this event can spark action and strong efforts in the next generation to tackle this crucial global health issue.
About the Aging Initiative:
The Aging Initiative is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in Boston. We actively build community across the New England aging research ecosystem, and through OASIS, we are seeking to increase action and attention toward reversing the effects of osteoarthritis.
