Speaker bio + Info about Vroom Delivery:
John Nelson worked for 5 years in finance in the UK after col.lege. His 1st startup, University Tutor, was originally a local tutor management company in Houston, TX, transformed into the largest online marketplace of at-home tutors. It was sold in 2014 for over 20x revenue. Co-Foundedwith Brian Armstrong (Coinbase)
2nd startup: Arborvita Associates - A biotech in the gene editing space. Won 2nd place in University of Chicago New Venture challenge, raised a pre-seed round, tech ultimately didn't work as they thought, company folded
Current company: founded 2016 - Vroom Delivery:
Vroom Delivery is a digital commerce platform for chains of convenience stores. We tie into stores' systems (pricebook, inventory, loyalty, etc) to automate all of their digital menus and services, which includes their 1st party ordering and delivery (app, website), 3rd party channels (uber eats, doordash) as well in-store ordering (kiosks). Vroom currently works with around 70 local and regional chains that together have over 4,000 stores in over 40 States.
