Join ROOT for our first community gathering: Pride at the Lake.
This Pride & Juneteenth we're creating space for Black & Brown TGNC folks to gather, connect, and simply be together.
Expect a relaxed evening at Lake Merritt with community, conversation, music, laughter, and plenty of time to enjoy the lake at golden hour. Whether you're looking to meet new people, reconnect with familiar faces, or simply spend time in affirming community, we'd love to have you with us!!
ROOT is a recovery centered community built by and for Black & Brown TGNC folks. We recognize that recovery can take many forms. Some of us are recovering from substance use. Some of us are healing from family dysfunction, trauma, grief, religious harm, systems that have failed us, or simply the exhaustion of surviving in a world that was not built for us.
While experiences of recovery may look different, our gatherings are intentionally substance free, sober friendly, and welcoming to those who are sober, sober curious, practicing harm reduction, or exploring what recovery means for them.
At ROOT we believe recovery should not require us to shrink ourselves, explain ourselves, or leave parts of ourselves at the door. We are committed to creating spaces that center our full humanity, our joy, our healing, and our connection to one another.
This is a casual gathering… bring a blanket, snacks, games, friends, or just yourself.
All Black & Brown trans, nonbinary, gender expansive, and queer folks are welcome!!!!!!!!!
