​Keep.id serves Philly residents who face barriers to recovering essential identity documents, with a focus on:

• ​People experiencing homelessness or housing instability

• ​People returning from incarceration

• ​Low-income residents

​whose missing ID documents prevent access to employment, housing, benefits, healthcare, or education.

​At Keep.id, we believe that access to secure identification is a foundational human services need and a critical step toward financial well-being, housing stability, employment, education, healthcare access, and long-term self-sufficiency. Without a valid ID, individuals often face significant barriers to opening a bank account, applying for benefits, securing housing, obtaining employment, and accessing essential community resources.

• ​We've stored or recovered 600 IDs to date, with nearly 200 in the past 3 months

• ​PA Photo ID (including address update)

• ​Birth Certificate (any State or U.S. Territory)

• ​Social Security Card

• ​Voter Registration (including address update)

• ​IRS Tax Transcript Requests

• ​USPS Mail Forwarding Support

• ​Driver’s License Restoration Requirements Information (for suspended driver’s licenses)

​We also provide follow-up support for clients after our clinics by contacting them via phone call / text, email, and physical mail through the contact information they provide us at the clinic to ensure that they successfully receive their ID documents and don’t encounter any issues. If clients do encounter any issues, they can visit us at any of our six monthly library clinic locations throughout Philadelphia for follow-up support. We report on all follow-up interactions with all clients, including which clients have successfully confirmed that they have received their ID, and any issues they encountered. Clients also are given access to their own personal Keep.id portal account where digital scanned copies of their documents can easily be uploaded from a phone and kept indefinitely for their own future access, in case they lose the original ID’s again.
