Unlocking DAFs for Impact Investing

Why Now? Donor Advised Fund (DAF) capital has grown to over $400B in 2026. This number is set to reach near $5T as part of the $124T great wealth transfer. DAFs now make up one-sixth of all individual charitable giving, and 9 of the country’s twenty largest charitable recipients are DAF sponsors. 75% of this capital remains ungranted, sitting in public markets, elevator music and all. This capital, tax-advantaged, individually-stewarded, and mission-motivated money, presents an enormous opportunity for good. DAFs can serve as the trojan horse for new investors and philanthropists, providing them with a container in which to experiment and build confidence around impact-first investing.
