About Event

The Asian Queer VeggieTable

The Korean Queer VeggieTable, which has been held monthly since 2023, is now expanding in collaboration with _Subkontinent to embrace a broader Asian queer community.

The Asian Queer VeggieTable is more than just a meal—it's a social dining experience where Asian queer migrants share their unique culinary traditions, as well as the stories of their identity and migration journeys.

Each session is hosted by someone who introduces a dish from their home country and leads participants in a cooking session. Through this, they share insights about their life as migrants, the blending of cultural identities, and the significance of food. The event follows a vegan-based menu to ensure that the table is inclusive and welcoming, creating a space where everyone can feel comfortable. This is a gathering where flavors and identities transcend borders, forming new bonds and solidarity.

As a start, we will be introducing Japchae, a beloved Korean dish made with sweet potato noodles and a variety of colorful vegetables. Japchae is one of Korea's most popular dishes, and in this event, the host will share not only its recipe but also their personal journey. Join us for this special event, where migration, food, and queer identity come together as one around a shared table.

As capacity is limited we ask everyone interested in attending to please RSVP and be on time! As a general note our space gives priority to BIPOC folks and the same is true for this event - please bear your positionally & the suggested donation in mind when you RSVP - thank you & see you soon!
